After an unplanned "blogging break", we're baaaack! That's how life is these days....a bit unstructured, chaotic, and unpredictable. Such is the life of toddlers, however, and we're learning to play a bit by *their* rules. This is good, though. For those of you who know me and Lisa, and know us well, losing a little control is probably a great thing. Who knew that getting our Ph.D. and Master's degrees would *not* prepare us for the rigors of potty training, gentle discipline, and the brute emotional strength needed to bite one's tongue when there is play-dough smashed into the white carpet? Swapping control and a bit (o.k., maybe a lot) of OCD for the joys of parenting is an easy trade.
A few updates.....
*We traded the monster powder blue minivan for a Subaru Forrester. Heather has named her "Precious" and loves, loves, loves the new ride. This new purchase has also helped increase our coolness factor...And trust us, we need all the help we can get! The kids love it, too, especially the "big window to the sky" (otherwise known as the sunroof).
*Jack is attending speech therapy twice a week and doing great. He LOVES to talk, but is sometimes difficult to understand, due to a few oral motor issues. After only a month, however, he's making a lot of progress. We also take Audrey, as she likes to "go to school", even though she remains in the waiting room with her backpack!
*The kids informed us last night that they want to be "doctors for kids", which makes a mom proud. If this career does not work out, however, Jack would like to be a cowboy and Audrey's second choice is "a mom who wears lipstick and blush".
*We are *trying* to go on more adult outings. YES, I said A-D-U-L-T, as in maybe an actual date! It's sometimes hard to believe that we were together for over ten years before the arrival of our beautiful kiddos. Upcoming dates....Seeing "The Color Purple" and having dinner with some of our good friends from MAFA (Midwest Alternative Families Alliance).
There are many more updates, but--for now--just a few pics. More to come soon!
